Farmyard Activities & Surrounding Valley

Petervale Guest Farm, offers you a wide variety of activities both on the farm and in the surrounding Ceres valley. Children will love spending time with and feeding our variety of farm animals, which give the farm an authentic ‘farmyard’ feel.

Note: All activities are only available to guests who have a booking to stay with us.

Experience milking a cow daily

View our cow getting milked or give it a try yourself and feed our variety of farm animals daily. Guests are also welcome to visit, pet and feed our farm animals when ever they like. 

Swimming

Our scenic dam is ideal for swimming, black bass fishing and boating. A scenic 40 to 45 minute trail up the mountain range leads one to a beautiful waterfall, with a deep rock pool below, fittingly named ‘God’s bathtub’. 

Kayaking

We have kayaks at our dam which are there for the use of our guests /at no extra charge. 

Bass Fishing

We have black bass in our dam and do allow guests to catch and release.

Hiking

The mountain range behind our campsite is ideal for short hikes. A scenic 40 to 45 minute trail up the mountain range leads one to a beautiful waterfall, with a deep rock pool below, fittingly named ‘God’s bathtub’.

Guests are also allowed to hike our 4×4 trail with stunning views of the Ceres valley. See route on map below in green. 

Wildlife & Bird Watching

There is an abundance of wildlife on Petervale, including buck, many birds and black bass in the dam. There are also many good bird watching opportunities.

Mountain biking

The terrain at Petervale is also ideal for mountain biking, so if this is your thrill, be sure to bring your bike!

4×4 Track

Our 4×4 trail snakes along behind the lower hills of the Skurweberg mountains with breathtaking views over the Ceres Valley. Our track is 1.2km long. Low range needed (preferably with high clearance). Graded about 3 with a downhill of a 4 at the end. Not suitable for beginners. No 2 x 4’s allowed. Please inquire with regards to availability and rates.  Track in green on map below.
