Romantic Couple Holiday
We stayed in The Fig Cottage and we had the most amazing time. Petervale Guest Farm is the perfect escape if you are looking for a break from the city life. It’s peaceful and tranquil in the breathtakingly beautiful nature. This accommodation is perfect for a winter or summer breakaway equipped with a KolKol wood-fire hot tub and a built in fireplace and for the summer days you can enjoy a swim in the dam to cool off. The cottages are perfectly designed with wooden ceiling boards that keeps the heat out and keeps the cottage nice and cool on the inside. It is also fully equipped with all the necessities from crockery to cutlery and utensils. Add this accommodation to your bucket list, it is most definitely a must visit!
Great view · Romantic · Quiet · Great value
Farm paradise!
I can’t recommend Petervale Guest Farm enough for a few days away to recharge the batteries. Accommodation is incredible (farm-style, with everything one needs and little touches like electric blankets and down duvets! ) and the hospitality of owner Rueben Roux is just next level. The hot tubs are just the cherry on the top! For kids, the farm is just paradise and there is so much to do – walks, bike riding, feeding and petting the farm animals, canoeing, swimming … and the mist beautiful dam. The campsites are paradise!

We’ll definitely be back!
We had a great camp at Petervale Guest Farm, which is located just outside of Ceres at the foot of some beautiful mountains. We stayed in campsites no. 2 & 3, which are in a close group of 4 sites (#1-4). These are slightly off-set from the dam, which we enjoyed because the sites along the dam are a hive of activity due to everyone swimming in the dam, so you have less privacy. The other reason we liked campsites 1-4, is because there are thick trees around them so they are less exposed than sites 5-10. All the campsites that are not literally on the dam are only a 30 second walk away. The dam was REALLY warm when we were there and a joy in which to swim. There was a great atmosphere there with people swimming, playing and paddling around in one of the two canoes provided by the farm at no charge. The dam is also great for young kids, because the bottom drops off very slowly and consistently, so there is no danger or your kids suddenly falling off into a deeper part (at least not when we were there). There is also a second dam where one can fish for bass. Another huge bonus about this farm is that 1.5km from the campsite (which was a 25 min walk one-way by an adult man, a bit longer if you have young kids) is an incredible waterfall and natural pool called God’s Bath Tub. This was an absolute highlight, to the extent that I walked up twice in one day to go back and swim there. You really feel like the river and pool is out in nature, rugged and has crystal clear mountain stream water flowing through it. The farm is amazing for kids because every morning at 9am they can watch the farm manager milking a cow and help feed/stroke goats, chickens, bunnies, ostriches, etc., which the kids loved. The staff were extremely punctual, accommodation and amenable. None of the campsites are on grass, but the ground was really nice and firm forest soil, coated with pine needles. The braai areas are almost North American in feel, as the fire place is comprised of a circle of stones, with some big wooden tree trunks on which to sit surrounding the fire area. Each campsite also has a fresh water tap, but no electricity. However, there are two deepfreezes and a phone-charging station at the ablution/washing up block which are about a 30 second walk from wherever you stay in the campsite. No loud music or pets are allowed, which ensures a peaceful stay. I highly recommend Petervale and we’ll definitely be back!

A hidden gem for the whole family
Nestled in the Ceres valley up against the mountains and under a canopy of Pine trees, this was truly a great find. Petervale Guest Farm ticked all the right boxes. With all this nature around for kids to explore and a dam that just adds more fun to the experience. The No Music policy adds to the tranquil and peaceful experience. For an added xtra you can experience staying in a Teepee which the kids are sure to love.
One of our kids highlights was feeding the animals and milking a cow with Reuben Roux. Feel free to bring your bike or walk the trail to a beautiful waterfall and see why they call it Gods Bath. The waterfall is not advisable for younger kids and the trail can get tricky.
Two things that added value to me was the fresh spring water on tap and sometimes hard to come by but a campsite that recycles.
Remember to bring lots of ice as there is no electricity but there is a communal freezer.
Thx again Reuben for an awesome camp
In two weeks we have been back to Petervale three times. Never have we stayed at a place where the owners are so friendly and helpful, the environment so clean and pure. This is definitely what paradise is made of and we can’t wait to come again!!
Thanks so much to the Petervale team on making this an experience to remember 🙂

Petervale is the food upon which relaxation feeds! So happy to have discovered this piece of paradise. I am sure we will be returning again and again. This is my number one destination this year! Farm animals, sunset boating, bonfires and laughter. Love it – Love it – Love it!
This place is the perfect place for camping and real relaxation. Reuben (The man that organized everything for us) was so accommodating and helpful. Been here twice and I’ll come back each time I need a weekend away 😁🌺
There is also so much to do for the kids and adults. Love this place 🌻

What an awesome place to spend a weekend. Ruben and his wife are extremely welcoming and accommodating. Bring the kids, milk a cow, feed the farm animals, catch some bass from a canoe, hike up the mountain to the waterfall and drink fresh spring water right from the source. An unforgettable experience, we’ll be back!

We had the best little getaway to this working farm in Ceres. The valley is very child friendly and my kids loved playing with the bunnies, feeding the ostrich and cheeky donkeys and watching the goose sit on her eggs.
Quince cottage was well equipped and the perfect spot to spend some quality family time. Reuben is a great host too. It was a very chilly weekend, but the fire places warmed us up nicely. Thank goodness for the hot blanket on the main bed!
Highly recommended spot! Ps. Bubbly tasting at Krone is superb too!

Spent the weekend at the farm it was amazing. The chalet was nice and clean, had everything you needed and the jacuzzi topped it off. The kids where kept busy with all the farm animals.
They loved the petting zoo and got to hold and play with all the baby animals and feeding them every morning.
The dam was lovely and warm.
Reuben was fantastic. Look forward to our next visit.

A very belated but truly heartfelt and sincere thank you for the wonderful time that we had at Petervale. The campsite was divine and the atmosphere so peaceful and relaxing. We loved walking down to the farm every morning to feed the animals – it was the highlight for the girls. We will definitely be back and my sister and her family are also keen to come on the next trip. Perhaps next time we will book Tipi 2 as well.
As for the almonds and the apple juice, they were totally delicious. I am saving the last bottle of juice for a special occasion. And we loved the fresh, fresh water. Cape Town water just tastes disgusting after drinking Petervale’s… Missing that the most. Missing everything about the farm actually!!

Our recent stay with our four kids were absolutely fantastic! Anyone looking for a real break away will enjoy the natural setting, and the peace that the farm has to offer. We loved the camping sites in the forest and off course the walk to the waterfall was well worth the effort. Wish we could have stayed longer, but will definitely return to try once again to catch those wily fish in the dam! Well done and keep your treasure as natural as it is. And off course the apple juice is heavenly
Thank you so much for an awesome weekend. You really do have a beautiful farm and your love for it shines through. Will definitely be coming back again soon. Was our friends first camping experience and I think the bar has been set very high!!
